White sands, palm trees, sea that is warm and free of sharks..... Not too sure about the sharks but I was once at a beach in Malaysia where they were supposed to have filmed South Pacific... certainly was a beautiful place.
foggy today (so far) how I wish I was on a small south pacific island being fanned by dusky topless maidens and to have an ice cold beer in my hand .................dreams ahhhhh!!!
Now hate is too strong a word Kev.....lol Another gorgeous day here today, was outside and it felt warm but no sweating. I think we are going to miss Hurricane Earl, it is set to track out to sea and may touch Montauk on Long Island. Normally when the hurricanes hit the gulf coast they sweep northward and the eastward and about two days after landfall we get heavy rainfall.
Swine ..... I hate you RS !!!!!!!! ![]()
judging by early morning sunshine it looks like we are in for another good day.
Up in the 90's again today, not bad as the humidity is down. Weekend might get a little nasty, depending on the track of the hurricane that is supposed to be coming.
We've just had summer here in the UK. 3 Days of sunshine in the 70's. Fingers crossed we get another day!
I used to use something called Clone Carbon Copy, which I think is a Mac only app. Then I decided I would rather just have a clean copy of my OS on there so just installed one, via the optical drive in my iMac to the external drive. Every time OS X gets updated I boot into the external and update that as well. Worked just fine about a month ago, decided to put a fresh copy of OS on here, saved my Address Book, Documents and Pictures and cloned the OS back onto here. Took all of about 30 minutes, then another hour or so installing the apps I wanted.
External drives are great, I have two of them, one has a mirror of my operating system, handy when I can boot into it and do any repair work on my internal HDs. The other is my back up of those important files/folders, which I do monthly.
Dropbox is very useful, I have found. My Vista part of my HD failed and I lost some vital (!) files but was able to retrieve them via Dropbox. It works over my Linux/Msoft dual boot setup and over my network to my pc.
I do a backup every week to an external hard drive but I find those services like dropbox useful for photo files.
I like the idea of DropBox as I do have 3 computers but somewhere deep inside me I have a distrust of putting any personal stuff out there on line. I don't like those web apps you can use instead of Office for the same reasons. However I do transfer a lot of pictures between my computers so I might just give it a try and see how it works out. Networking 3 Mac computers is a breeze, in fact it is all done for you so this DropBox will have to beat that to remain on my computers.
Hope this is of interest to members.
I have recently come across a site called Dropbox. You can upload (free) important files/folders for Linux/Windows/Mac and they will be stored on their site (securely) so if anything happens to your computer there is always a copy you can download. It automatically syncs too if you change a doc or folder. Well worth a look at as it takes the place of all those laborious backups.

f the government is so worried about drinking, how come the pubs are open all day these days. I can remember seeing pictures of public drunkeness before that happened. It would appear it isn't in the governments interest to keep the price of booze down, they take a huge chunk of that money in taxes.
STOP THE SUPERMARKETS FROM SELLING VERY VERY CHEAP BOOZE. Tell the brewery's to sell booze at a reasonable profit and hope the government CUT the tax on alcohol. All this would get us back to normal, as we used to be!
That video of the Army Game takes me back in a time warp. Used to watch this on TV with my dad who was in the army at the time. Good times we were doubled-up with laughter.
I wasn't that long ago I watched a couple of series of "Get Some In" Shiver down the spine with memories of ITS.
Air quality is a big issue in NY state, ever since 2001. They were very quick to jump up to say air quality in NYC was OK, following 9/11. Then they very quietly issued air cleaners to anyone who wanted one. That big cloud of dust supposedly came up the Hudson Valley and dispersed somewhere around here. Most of the firemen/policemen who survived 9/11 are out on disability now, with breathing related issues.
Probably pollution. Here kids are going down with Gastroenteritis, winter not fully over yet !
Dropbox is the easiest way to store, sync, and, share files online. There's no complicated interface to learn. Dropbox works seamlessly with your operating system and automatically makes sure your files are up-to-date. Available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
