THANK YOU SOOOO Much to the faithful helpers that have been there to get all the small stuff out of the way to make this dream a reality! Big Thanks to Dan Bailey for donating and operating the crane while we dismantled our beloved cabin!
Now we will need to get some folks down there to "clean" the logs. This means that we need to rip the nails out and make sure that the logs that we are putting back do not have anything sticking out of them!
WOW - What a great group that has gotten so much accomplished!
Remember that meetings are the second Monday of each month at 7pm, but in July the meeting will be at 6pm at the park for our annual picnic! Please bring a side dish to share with the friends and family!
See Ya There!![]()
BIG THANKS to the 28 volunteers who came out to work on the cabin! We really got alot done! We got the entire roof off with only one serius injury...(someone who shall remain nameless fell and got 9 stitches in his arm!) We punched out the majority of the chinking with the exception of the chinking that was actually holding logs up! We tore off the front porch and picked up all the stones and debris around the house.
We ate a lunch of sloppy joe, macaroni salad, and bean salad. We also had plenty of chips, brownies, cookies, muffins and donuts to snack on throughout the day!
Thank You Susan Phillips for allowing us to use your kitchen, porch, and outhouse!
We will need to schedule a second work day to dig a ditch around the foundation and to grade the yard away from the house! When our replacement logs arrive, Dan Bailey has agreed to donate the use of his crane to unstack the logs and replace the rotten logs with our new logs. Our new logs are coming from a sawmill near Hundred, WV.
As always, if you are interested in helping please email amwellhistory@yahoo.com or call president Maggie Farabee 724-222-2362
We have LOTS of work to do before the cabin comes down, and we need all the help we can get! Everyone is invited to come work on the cabin. We need to punch out the chinking, clean out the debris and tear off the front porch. If you are capable of helping, please come!
We will provide a light lunch, but we are asking that you bring either drinks or snacks or a light side to go with lunch. If you can't bring anything that's OK, we still need you to come help!
Please bring HAMMERS, CHISELS/SCREWDRIVERS, LADDERS, AND/OR ANY OTHER TOOLS THAT YOU HAVE THAT MAY BE HELPFUL. Please label all your tools so that the correct tools make it back to the correct people!
If you are interested in helping, but cannot attend our first workday, please email us: amwellhistory@yahoo.com or call Maggie Farabee 724-222-2362
This is our ongoing project. We are currently cleaning and preparing a room to display our artifacts and photos. We have several display cases that were donated by the Washington County Historical Society and several artifacts that have already been donated. Please remember that we may not have enough space to display everything, so we may have to display some things on a rotating basis. If you are able to help with this project please let us know when you are available and the chairpersons on the project will be in touch with you.
