Harvest Celebration

Service at 9.30am

followed by 

activities and lunch

* Exhibition of art from local schools

* Community lunch with local produce

* Activities, workshops for children and adults on a "live simply" theme

Harvest Celebration Sunday is for everyone and anyone. There will be a real Harvest Welcome at All Saints Church on 26th September. Newcomers will be welcome - not only is there a church service but also activities and a free lunch! Come and spend an enjoyable morning and maybe learn a new skill too  (see full programme to right).

Programme for the morning

9.30am:  Harvest Celebration  - an all-age service in church with Communion ALL WELCOME

10.30am: Grab a cup of tea, coffee and biscuit etc  and chat in The Cornerstone

11am - 11.30am: Bread-making masterclass - Lorraine Hodgson will be demonstrating how to make bread; in The Cornerstone main hall

11.30am – 12pm:  Jam- making masterclass – Helen Charlton will demonstrate how to make jam in a bread-maker;  in the Cornerstone main hall

11am - 12 noon ongoing activities to dip and and out of include

Children's activities in the Cornerstone South Hall, with play-dough!

Knitting workshop - making knitted flowers for a special Creationtime archway in church entrance - Tamzin Evershed and Carol Brombley will be demonstrating knitting to those who need some help in The Cornerstone main hall

Prayer Station - upstairs in The Cornerstone for Harvest/Creationtime reflection

Frequently Asked Questions about Christian faith - a drop-in group with the Rector and other clergy members available to discuss any burning question you may have about faith matters today

Soup-making will be going on in The Cornerstone kitchen using locally-grown vegetables

Harvest loaf competition - Try and make your own bread in the shape of traditional harvest loaves (there is a recipe here) to bring in and share;  and there will be a competition for the best harvest loaf (if we get any!). 

Tea, coffee and squash will be available throughout the morning's activities

12 NOON LUNCH

Lunch will consist of of the vegetable soup, made from home-grown vegetables donated by the congregation and locally grown vegetables donated by Gray’s Farm, served in biodegradable soup cups, with wooden spoons. 

On each table we will have a jar of jam made from home-grown fruit, and made by members of the congregation at home-based jam parties.  The sugar will be (as far as possible), fair trade, and donated by the congregation. 

There will be  home-made bread to share and eat with the rest of the congregation.  

We will provide tea, coffee and squash to drink, as usual.

There will be a special pot of All Saints Harvest Jam to take away.
