Here are some sources of ethical or eco-friendly presents to give in place of other Christmas gifts. 

Even if you only replace a few ordinary presents with ethical ones, you’ll be saving energy, space in landfill or helping someone less fortunate than yourself or all three!

www.ethicalgifts.co.uk A great starter site which contains links to many companies that sell ethical gifts.  It also has a Christmas calculator which will show you how much damage you have done to the environment over the festive period!

www.giftsinaction.org.uk  Charity gifts from Action Aid, such as a chicken breeding programme or water purification equipment.

www.presentaid.org Charity gifts from Christian Aid, similar to Gifts in Action (see above).

www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/ Oxfam Unwrapped sells charity gifts as above, and there is an ethical gifts section “selling eco and fair trade gifts gadgets and groceries to make living and giving more sustainable” including specially designed Wright & Teague designer jewellery.

www.alotoforganics.co.uk  A UK organic search engine which brings you organic, fair trade, ethical, eco-friendly, vegan, and special diets products with links to lots of useful websites (including some listed here).

www.cowsnthings.org.uk You can give cows and other things (like clean water and chickens) to needy elderly people in developing countries through this site run by Help the Aged.

www.thesite.org/homelawandmoney/activism/issues/ethicalchristmasgifts doesn’t actually sell you anything, but gives lots of advice on buying ethically at Christmas, including a Top Ten list of ethical gifts from toys for Bolivian children to fair trade jewellery from Bali.
