Welcome to All Saints Ecocongregation page!  All Saints is a church committed to caring for God's creation, and we recently received our second EcoCongregation Award for our commitment as a congregation to reducing our impact on the environment.  We have been invited, along with other Ecocongregation groups in the area, to go to meeting the new Bishop of Reading when he or she has been inaugurated.

All Saints Carbon Reduction Project

You may have seen the Wokingham Times article with the headline “Church aims to go green with solar panels”. http://www.getwokingham.co.uk/news/s/2078703_church_aims_to_go_green_with_solar_panels

The good news is that the PCC has given its blessing to an Eco-congregation project to investigate how we could reduce the energy costs and carbon footprint of our historic church building.

At each stage of the project, the project team will ensure that expert advice is obtained, and that the correct approvals are obtained from the listed building authorities as well as church authorities and the PCC.

At a special PCC meeting on the 6th of April, the PCC resolved unanimously to allow the group to spend up to £7,500 on drawing up specifications to repair the church roof and undertake other maintenance work necessary prior to the installation of solar panels.  It also authorised the group to apply for planning permission to install solar panels on the roof of the Cornerstone.  The group will return with costed proposals to seek the PCC's permission to do the work should it be minded to give it.

There are now numerous examples of Listed churches that have gone carbon neutral:
