I'm Not Scared directed by Gabriele Salvatores is a quiet movie about a brave boy in Southern Italy and the discovery he makes.  While playing with his friends, 10 year old Michele comes across an abandon house with a cavernous type hole beside.  There is a young boy inside, chained by his ankle.  Of course this scares Michele, but not enough, for he goes back every day to visit the boy in the hole and develop a friendship with him. Michele soon discovers who the boy is and why he is there and makes the desicion to do a fearless thing. I thought this was a great movie and it reminds you of the fears of the unknown that you have during your childhood and the overwhelming boost of courage that helps you overcome them.  I was totally involved with the charcters hoping for the best outcome through every changing scene.  Beautiful scenery of Italy provides the backdrop for this movie.  I give it a 9 out of 10 and a definite must see. Foregn drama/thriller and has subtitles.

Old Boy directed by Chan-wook Park is somewhat of a Korean 'Count of Monte Cristo' except way more darker and cruel. Oh Dae-su is imprisoned in a very shabby hotel room and given no reason as to why.  He is watches t.v., is fed, drugged and hypnotized every day. One day while watching the news, he discovers that his wife has been murdered and he is now a supect.  His only daughter has been adopted by a couple in Sweden.  All of a sudden he is released after 15 years and now he seeks his revenge on not only his wife's murderer but his demented captor as well.  He meets a waitress who he recognizes from a t.v. show and she befriends him.  Together they search for clues that will ultimately lead to one of the most shocking endings in movies.  Oh Dae-su's need for revenge takes him deep into the belly of madness and you then wonder "what next".  This movie contains violence, sex scenes and is disturbing at times. Dubbed in English also offers subtitles. I give it 9.5 out of 10 because I love seeing the enveloped pushed as far as its allowed.
