About Cubs

1st WOODEND CUB SCOUT PACKS (Lions & Tigers)

How old are Cubs?

Cub Scouts are boys and girls aged between 8 to 10.5 yrs.

What do Cubs do?

There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like crafts, games, scouting skills and collecting. If you do them properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform.

Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, bowling and district fun days. Sometimes you will be able to go camping with the rest of your Pack. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.

The Cub Scout programme and activities are based on six Programme Zones, these are:

star  Beliefs and Attitudes star  Creative
star  Community                          star  Global
star  Fitnessstar  Outdoor and Adventure

These Zones are delivered using 11 methods, which give the programme variety and range. All Cub Scouts will have an opportunity to:

star  play gamesstar  help other people
star make thingsstar themes
star singing, stories, drama star prayer, worship & reflection
star visits and visitorsstar team challenges
star outdoorsstar try new things
star activities with others

In addition to the Zones and Methods, there is also a third element to the Balanced Programme which very much reflects the experience of being a Cub Scout.

star fun  star personal development
star  getting on with othersstarworking together
star activitiesstarresponsibility
star keeping the Promise

What do they wear?

Cub Scouts wear a full uniform.  Scouting is a uniformed organisation and the uniform tells everyone that you are a Cub Scout.  For instance, people can tell what Pack you belong to by looking at the colour of your kneckie.  The uniform consists of:

Green long sleeved sweatshirt

Group kneckie (presented when invested into the Group)

Blue activity trousers/skirt
