How old are Cubs?
Cub Scouts are boys and girls aged between 8 to 10.5 yrs.
What do Cubs do?
There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout. You will get a chance to try lots of different activities like crafts, games, scouting skills and collecting. If you do them properly you will get a badge which you can wear on your uniform.Cub Scouts also get to go on trips and days out, to places like the zoo, bowling and district fun days. Sometimes you will be able to go camping with the rest of your Pack. This will mean you sleeping in a tent and doing loads of outdoor activities.
The Cub Scout programme and activities are based on six Programme Zones, these are:
These Zones are delivered using 11 methods, which give the programme variety and range. All Cub Scouts will have an opportunity to:
| play games | help other people | ||
| make things | themes | ||
| singing, stories, drama | prayer, worship & reflection | ||
| visits and visitors | team challenges | ||
| outdoors | try new things | ||
| activities with others |
In addition to the Zones and Methods, there is also a third element to the Balanced Programme which very much reflects the experience of being a Cub Scout.
